Jen Scully - Artist / Owner of Mack & Ro
Jen is a born and raised New Englander, currently residing in coastal Connecticut. From a very young age, she learned how art and design can bring energy and meaning to a space and the people in that space.
Jen studied fine art and graphic design at Boston University while achieving a degree in psychology. She then went on to attain a master's degree in art therapy from Lesley University. She's worked for over 15 years in nonprofits. During that time she moved from the Boston area to Connecticut and had two children, Macklin and Ronan. In 2015, just following the birth of her second child Jen started Mack & Ro, working out of a small studio in her home in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Inspiration and Process
Jen's creative process is largely influenced by her coastal New England roots and surroundings. She finds inspiration in the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of the coast. This translates into her work through bright and neutral colors, as well as texture by layering and scraping paint to create a raw seaside vibe. Jen rarely uses a paint brush - her primary tools are palette knives and rollers.
Mack & Ro Today
In the last year or so, Jen expanded her work well beyond original paintings on canvas. She now offers photography and digital prints, as well as a wallpaper line. These new collections not only carry out the coastal theme she's known for, but also a happy laid back vibe through color and content.
Jen also offers minimalist and whimsical custom watercolor and ink portraits that can be purchased online or through various events with retailers across the US.
